They're More Than Just WAGS: Happy National Girlfriend Day!

While their "better halves" might be more famous than they are, we are obsessed with some of these celebrities' wives and girlfriends. We're here to remind everyone that just because they're known for dating some of our favourite superstars, it most definitely is not their greatest achievement. They are all worth so much more than the media gives them credit for. We love to see independent, successful women, and even more, we love to see independent, successful women in love. So let's take a look at the coolest and smartest wags that we all want to be when we're older.

Towa Bird - Reneé Rapp’s Girlfriend

Towa Bird is an alternative musician who was born in Hong Kong but grew up in both Thailand and London. She gained popularity from posting singing and guitar covers on TikTok, which landed her a role as a guitarist on Olivia Rodrigo’s documentary Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film). This opportunity caught the eyes of Interscope Records, which she was then signed to. In the fall of 2023, Towa Bird joined Reneé Rapp’s Snow Hard Feelings Tour as one of the two opening acts. Later in the spring of 2024, the two stunned at Vanity Fair’s Red Carpet as a couple for the first time. Not long after, Towa Bird dropped her debut album American Hero in late June of 2024. Towa Bird has a very masculine late 70s - early 80s vibe to both her music and fashion style. You can mostly find her in a funky suit or a cropped graphic ball tee.

Taylor (Dome) Lautner - Taylor Lautner's Wife

Taylor Dome, who now goes by Taylor Lautner, or girl Tay, is the wife of famous actor Taylor Lautner (boy Tay), best known for his role in Twilight, or if you're an OG fan, The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl. The pair met through his sister and got married in 2022. So technically, she's a wife, not a girlfriend. But she's way too cool not to get mentioned. She became a registered nurse in 2019, a year after she officially began dating boy Tay, and worked through the COVID-19 crisis that swept the world. She left nursing during the pandemic due to the stress of the job and in 2022 debuted her self-care and mental health website Lemons by Tay. As an advocate for mental health, she and her husband started their podcast, The Squeeze (one of our personal favourites), which is still airing regularly. On the show the two discuss their mental health struggles while inviting other celebrities to share their own as well. They've had big names such as Jameela Jamil, Xochitl Gomez, and Natasha Bedingfield come onto the show as guests. They also, on occasion, have a solo episode or two to delve into certain subjects with more detail. She is both a fantastic person and an entertaining internet personality, and we are so glad she married Taylor Lautner and was introduced into the public eye. She is an absolute delight on her podcast, and we love that she takes advantage of her platform to spread awareness and bring good into the world. I mean, how iconic is that?

Lily Zneimer - Oscar Piastri's Girlfriend

Oh, how we love high school sweethearts. Meeting when she was 14 at Haileybury, their boarding school, and dating by 17, Oscar Piastri and Lily Zneimer have been together for over 6 years, getting even cuter as the days go by. She's quickly become one of our favourite wags in F1, drawing us in with her adorable fashion sense, love for both her boyfriend and the sport, and how brilliant she is. While Zneimer isn't too keen on being in the spotlight, having a private Instagram and keeping her relationship with Piastri under wraps, she's definitely still someone to keep your eye on. Known in her younger years for achieving a perfect score on the GCSE exams, Zneimer is not just another girlfriend; she's extremely intelligent, now a recent engineering graduate looking into a career in F1. Both her and Piastri seem grounded and down to earth, and it's refreshing to see a wag on the grid not completely consumed by their partner's work. With the connections she most likely has through Piastri, plus her very obvious skills and smarts, we expect she might be working in the sport sooner than we think. Maybe an engineer for McLaren? A girl can dream. She also isn't the only one eyeing a job in motorsport, and we're so excited for the new wave of women in the field (Like Laura Müller!). As for the couple, we might just be looking at the next Toto and Suzie Wolff.
